Acron to Buy 500 New Hopper Cars

Veliky Novgorod’s Acron has embarked on a project to expand its railcar fleet. The Company is buying 500 new hoppers from Ruzkhimmash to transport urea and ammonium nitrate.

The first 100 cars arrived at the production site at the end of 2023. In 2024, the Company plans to receive another 400 hoppers.

The new rolling stock has advanced technical parameters and a service life of 26 years. With a loading volume of 107 m3 and a capacity of up to 71 tonnes, the hoppers can carry a wide range of bulk mineral fertilisers.

Valery Ponamarev, head of Acron’s Transportation Department, said: ‘The fleet renewal is part of our strategy to improve transport safety and reduce car maintenance costs. The new hoppers will allow us to seamlessly plan for increased product shipments while replacing the old models with more efficient ones.’

Following the acquisition, Acron will operate a fleet of over 2,200 own cars and 2,500 leased cars.
