Developing the Talitsky area of Verkhnekamsk potassium-magnesium salt deposit in Perm Krai
- 60
m tKCl reserves
(JORC) - 2
mtpaof potassium chloride
(can be increased to 2.6 mtpa)
In 2008, Acron Group member Verkhnekamsk Potash Company (VPC) obtained a licence to develop the Talitsky area of the Verkhnekamsk potassium-magnesium salt deposit in Perm Krai, and currently is building a mining and processing complex. The project is aimed at completing Acron Group’s vertical integration by creating a potash raw material base for complex fertiliser production.
Talitsky Mine Key Parameters
- Mineral resources under JORC (Measured and Indicated)* — 719.4 mn t // 35.56% KCl // 255.8 mn t KCl
- Ore reserves under JORC (Proven and Probable)* — 190.7 mn t // 31.4% KCl // 59.9 mn t KCl**
- Mine capacity: 2 mn t of KCl with further expansion to 2.6 mtpa
- The project is being implemented with the participation of Sberbank Investments
Project Stages
2019
- Shaft sinking underway
- A special investment contract was signed with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Government of Perm Krai.
- Start of shaft sinking
- Obtaining Rosgeolekspertiza Expert Approval No. 277-02-04/2018 dated 12 November 2018 for “Geological Survey Including Exploration and Estimation of Potassium-Magnesium Salts at the East Talitsky Area of the Verkhnekamsk Deposit”
- Drafting working documentation for construction of the Talitsky mine’s facilities and related infrastructure
- Obtaining subsoil licence No. ПЕМ 02683 ТП for geological study of subsoil resources of the East Talitsky area of the Verkhnekamsk potassium-magnesium salt deposit
- Approval by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Perm Krai of the basic engineering design documentation for the following projects: Development of Ground Construction Materials Deposits “Talitsky Open Pits 1 and 2” and “Talitsky Open Pit 3”. The open pits will supply ground materials required for construction of the Talitsky mine’s surface facilities
- Completion of general preparations for vertical shaft freezing and sinking
- Approval by GlavGosExpertiza of the third project stage (construction of a surface complex)

- Continuing the construction of temporary buildings and structures for freezing and shaft sinking
- Approval by GlavGosExpertiza of the second project stage (construction of the underground mine)
- Continuing construction of temporary buildings and structures for freezing and shaft sinking
- Assembling equipment for the freezing plant and brine pipes for shaft sinking
- Commissioning of an administrative building for contractors
- Commissioning of the Talitskaya-1 main step-down substation, which will provide the mine site with electricity during construction
- Commissioning accommodations for 250 people
- Completing freezing holes for soil freezing for shaft sinking
- Signing a contract for shaft sinking
- Completing levelling for construction of beneficiation factory, concrete mixer and arch warehouses
- Commissioning of an administrative building for VPC workers
- Approval of the first project stage (construction of vertical shafts) by GlavGosExpertiza, Russia’s main state expert review board
