Carbon Dioxide Operations at Acron Pass FSSC 22000 Audit

Veliky-Novgorod-based Acron passed an independent audit of its carbon dioxide operations for compliance with the FSSC 22000 international standard.

The audit, performed by the Russian branch of the international auditor DNV, confirmed the high level of education and professional competence of the Acron’s employees.

The audit focused on the industrial safety of carbon dioxide operations and its application by the food industry. It also reviewed personnel competence, emergency preparedness, and appropriate control over the liquid carbon dioxide process.

The auditors noted that the Company’s high-quality carbon dioxide process flows meet all of the customer’s standards and requirements. The audit covered multiple units, including the ammonia water, liquid carbon dioxide, and cylinder filling shops.

Acron’s senior deputy executive director and chief engineer, Mikhail Yaskevich, noted that Acron and DNV have been partners for over two decades. ‘The Company has repeatedly confirmed the high level of its food safety management system. Acron is a major supplier of carbon dioxide in the Russian northwest. A successful audit is a key element in cooperation with the consumers of our products’.

Carbon dioxide (carbonic anhydride, carbonic acid gas, CO2) is a non-toxic, colourless, and odourless substance with a sour taste. It is explosive- and fire-safe and has a wide range of practical applications in agriculture, medicine, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, electronics, and the food industry.

Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000) is a robust, ISO-based, internationally accepted certification scheme for auditing and certification of food safety within the food and beverage manufacturing sector.
