Dorogobuzh Boosts Support for Smolensk Growers

Each year, Dorogobuzh (a member of Acron Group) supports agricultural producers in Smolensk region by donating its products. In 2020, the regional agro-industrial complex received 1,750 tonnes of donated mineral fertilisers, up 40% year-on-year.

This spring, in response to a request from Smolensk region governor Alexey Ostrovsky, Dorogobuzh provided 126 farms from 24 districts in the region with 1,250 tonnes of fertilisers – 550 tonnes of NPK and 700 tonnes of AN, 22% more than last spring.

This year, 500 tonnes of NPK were allocated for the autumn sowing campaign, twice as much as in 2019. All-purpose complex fertiliser was distributed among 52 agricultural enterprises, twice as many as last year. NPK fertiliser was shipped to 20 districts in Smolensk region, including Dorogobuzh district. Major consumers are located in the Smolensk, Pochinki, Novodugino, Monastyrshchina, Glinka, and Safonovo districts. The Sodeistvie Association of Farm Enterprises and Agricultural Cooperatives received 100 tonnes of fertilisers.

This year, local growers were given the ambitious target of harvesting 350,000 tonnes of grain, or 30,000 tonnes more than last year. The harvest is underway, and over 130,000 hectares must be planted with grain and legume crops. The average yield in the region is 2,360 kilograms per hectare.

The governor noted that Dorogobuzh is responsive to requests from regional authorities and greatly supports farmers by ensuring a timely supply of mineral fertilisers that are vital for high yields of the region’s main crops.

Alexander Tsarev, acting head of the Agriculture and Food Department of Smolensk region, expressed his appreciation for Dorogobuzh’s regular support for Smolensk growers and priority fertiliser shipments.
