Acron Group and IPL, the biggest Indian fertiliser distributor, have entered into an agreement for Acron to supply 200,000 tonnes of NPK 16-16-16 at the current spot price by the end of 2010. The new agreement takes advantage of changes to India’s national fertiliser subsidy programme that made it possible to expand the assortment of imported mineral fertilisers.
India is the world’s largest mineral fertiliser importer. Despite the 2009 economic downturn, Asian countries maintained robust demand for fertilisers, making the region and India in particular the most attractive complex fertiliser market. Acron plans to expand its footprint and increase supplies of top-quality NPK to the Indian market to 300,000-350,000 tonnes per year.
